Aussie Austin Bautista heads into Yulongwan Yunnan Open from MQ
Aussie Austin Bautista, leader of the Monday qualifiers, raised the curtain for the China Tour Yunnan Swing this afternoon. After more than 1 month summer hiatus, China tour is to enter into China golf hotbed Yunnan province back to back and start on Thursday in Kunming Yulongwan Golf Club, with Jialize Resort , which is about 90 minutes drive away from Yulongwan, on the way next week.
“The setup and condition today was so good for the score, and I took advantage at the beginning and made a 14 feet putt, that birdie set a good tone for the day.”though a first timer to Yulong Bay, Austin Bautista scored -5 with 7 birdies and 2 bogeys, showed little uneasy about the course, which is famous for its speedy green and difficult layout among the tour-goers in last 3 years,“This is one the the best golf courses I have ever played in China, and fairways and greens have been taken care very well, I believe it could be highly ranked golf course in any lists of the world.”
Yulongwan is the one of a few courses who have hosted tour in its all young 4 year-old life. The solo runner up Wang Yanzhang, an amateur, was 2 strokes back and was satisfied with his 6 birdies and 3 bogeys performance ,“Though I missed a few putt in first couple of holes, my iron and my caddy had been good tandem for me all day. In special in last 2 holes, with my caddy’s precise read and my short iron, I had a strong finish.
10 players went through 18 hole qualify test and advanced into Thursday lineups, among whom was another first timer amateur Jiang zhijie, who experienced up and down on the course, highlighted by his eagle in No.3 hole and birdie in No.4. His -2 score put him in tied 3rd position, with pro Pang Jianfeng.
Pan Xiaoli, Wang lei, Wu Weilong, Yi Bo, and Chinese Taibei player Fu Yinfeng and German Schultes Georg rounded up being other successful qualifiers
