2019 China Tour is drawing to an end with the appearance of Li Haotong at the final championship in Chongqing
As the kick-off time for 2019 China Tour Championship arrives today in Chongqing Kingrun Golf Club, the season is coming to a real close after ten regular tournaments and two co-sanctioned tournaments. It is also to be observed that the golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus will hold a China Tour event for the fifth time.
According to the name list of players released the other day, the triple crown winner, Maverick Antcliff, and winners of each tournament, including Jung Woojin, Hak Shun-yat, Nicolas Paez, Kieran Muir, Chao Haimeng and Zhang Huilin, all of them are confirmed to attend this annual and final grand championship this week.
Besides, the triple crown winner of European Tour, Wu Ashun, is also present in the name list, together with Yuan Yechun who is the best Chinese player in 2019 WGC-HSBC Champions, and Liu Yanwei, Jin Cheng, Chen Guxin, etc., who had performed well this season. In particular, this is the first tournament after 16-year-old Chen Guxin turned pro. The strong array of players is worth looking forward to.
The most striking part is definitely the attendance of Li Haotong. The No.1 Chinese golf player had just come back from Dubai. He has two titles for European Tour and ranked within Top 10 of Race to Dubai last season, which made him leap to No.32 in world ranking. The 2019 China Tour Championship has gained more world ranking points (up to 8 points) due to his participation. Nine players will get world ranking points this week.
As Li Jinliang, the director of China Golf Association’s Competition Department, said in the press conference this morning, “a powerful and influential tour is the best platform for native players to keep growing. Many young players have marched to the world stage via the experience in China Tour over the years. Their excellent performances in international tournaments also prove the great potential of China Tour. We are delighted to see those players come back home this week, it is not easy because some of them are preparing for the Olympics. For all the players, we shall be very pleased to have them home very often.”
China Golf Association has always persisted all these years in innovating the tournament system. 2019 China Tour Championship will creatively have a pro-am this week, which is an in-depth combination of pro and amateur competitions, undoubtedly a commendable attempt in tournament system innovation.
The championship has a total prize money of RMB1.2 million and will determine the pro champion, the amateur champion, the team winner, as well as the prize winner of the season. The annual and final grand feast is about to coming from November 27 to December 1.
