A Statement From China Tour CEO
First of all, please allow me, on behalf of the China Tour, to extend my best wishes to all of you, your families, and your friends, wishing you good health and happiness in life.
As is well known, an unexpected coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in China earlier has placed an enormous challenge in our life and work. The 2020 season of China Tour is inevitably affected. Player’s health and safety is our first priority. In view of this, my colleagues and I made a difficult decision on February 1 to postpone the 2nd Q-school and first two regular events until late April and early May, and issued a notice on the official website of the CGA.
However, the novel coronavirus, declared as a pandemic later on, has swept across the world since March. The U.S and the Europe are all facing severe challenges, fighting hard against the coronavirus. International sports associations and federations have been temporarily constrained to suspend their events successively. All the major tours around the world, including PGA Tour, European Tour, Asian Tour and Japan Tour have announced to cancel or postpone all events for the next two months. After talks and negotiations over and over again, the Tokyo Olympic games have officially been postponed until 2021 either. To cancel or postpone, none of such decisions can be made easily, and their helplessness and sorrow are mine too.
Considering the current anti-pandemic situation, China Tour has no other choice than to decide on further postponement. We have been following the news and latest progress about coronavirus, keeping in close contact with China Golf Association, local government departments of host cities and partner golf courses. We will let you know once the condition permits to restart. Before that, the committee of China Tour will do whatever we could to prepare for the tournaments step by step. The 2020 season is meant to be exceptional, and we will do our utmost to present a special and significant season to you all.
China Tour’s core value is all about players. China Tour is a dream cradle and a stage for every player go further to the world. I firmly believe that China Tour will come back to you with a new visage when the virus is gone.
Warmest regards, and we are looking forward to your return.
